Taunton & District Mencap Society is one of five Local Mencap Societies in Somerset and is affiliated to National MENCAP. They encourage those with learning disabilities to become involved with organised activities and offer help and support to individuals, their families and carers. They also have a caravan on the Dorset Coast where they offer discounted holidays to people with learning disabilities and their families. Taunton Mencap was established in 1956 and became a Registered Charity in 1962.
