Understanding Brain Injury Course

The course is designed specifically for unpaid Supporters of people who have sustained an
Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) in Somerset.
What is the course about?
Participants will learn about the brain, its functions, and some of the possible consequences of
brain injury, such as changes to memory, concentration, emotions and behaviour. Participants
will also learn practical strategies to help support and care for their loved one.

There are five workshops in the series and they are delivered via Zoom, using a laptop,
computer, or Tablet/iPad. They will be run by Wendy Copeman/ Jane Allin, our Hospital Liaison/
Family Support workers. Each session will run for 1 hour 15 minutes , allowing some taught
content, some group activities and time for supporters to ask questions and share their
experiences with other members of the group.
