Somerset Carers service has been busy over the summer with our Carer Agents supporting carers across the county with practical advice, finding solutions to a wide variety of issues and ensuring those who need time to themselves, can ensure their physical, mental and emotional well-being.
On Monday 9th September we organised the first ever Carer Information Day in Taunton in conjunction with Adult Social Care. Visitors also had the opportunity to find out about the support available to them from:
- Medequip
- Headway
- Somerset Independant Living Centre
- Somerset Foundation Trust
- Fire Service
- Citizens Advice
- Somerset Skills and Learning
The day was a huge success with many Village and Carers Agents and Social Work Practitioners on hand for information, help and advice. Following this successful debut, we look forward to rolling this out across the county over the coming months.
As part of our work over the coming weeks, we will be out in the community at more local events offering information and advice. Please do pop by and say hello, ask for that help, or pick up our leaflets if you know an unpaid carer who may need help. We will also be at professional events ensuring that organisations across the county are aware of our work and can also refer to us (with client consent).
In order to best support unpaid carers, we need to know who and where you are, so please ensure you register with us (https://somersetcarers.org/register/), with your GP and with Adult Social Care at Somerset Council.
